No Truth Like Velvet

It’s a perfect Sunday night

Rain in the sky and Monday a holiday,

She wakes me from napping

To ask what I want to do

I want to have an all night poker game

With whiskey, smokin’ and cussin’

But no dogs allowed

For I have seen the velvet painting

Dogs cheat at cards

Let them go next door

And shoot pool and create havoc

For there is no truth like velvet

And no god save Elvis

an old poem I wrote back in 2003, you might have seen it around….
