Harvard is Free, Too!!!! (Not so Sure About Auburn)

The other I wrote about signing up at Yale thru Coursera.org. i bemoaned that I could not wear the Harvard Crimson, even though there were several Ivy League schools, the mother (or father) of all Ivy League schools was absent.

Yesterday, my daughter in law posted on Facebook that she was going to take some free courses at M.I.T.!!!! and a friend of hers mentioned that Harvard had free courses. So I googled “free Harvard online classes” and up popped this:

That’s 8 classes I could be taking now! Actually, I am going to finish my Yale and U of Illinois Urbana classes first, but Harvard here I come! They all look like classes I might take! heck 8 classes a year, in 5 years i would have an unofficial Harvard Education! but I think I will probably mix it up and continue to take a few courses from several different schools, but still, a little MIT, Yale, Illinois, Stanford, Vandy, Duke, Princeton and Harvard sounds more my style.

My suggestion, if this has peaked your interest, go to Coursera, as it is a great clearinghouse for this stuff, but if you are interested in a school that isnt listed, go to that school’s website. And if they dont seem to offer any courses, ask them why. They probably do, are or going to soon!

I just dropped a note to my beloved Auburn, as I do not see their free courses on their website.

(I tried to make this a private page that you could link to by clicking on it, rather than putting the email in the body of this post, but if i make it private, you cant find it, so i made it password protected. At least it doesnt clutter up my lists of posts as much as a public post does. the password is the word email)

But either way, y’all better watch out, because, as my brother says, I might become even more unbearable than i already am! Still toying with getting my 9 year old interested in a course or two. I think he might like a college science course or two. Any thoughts?

too many thoughts to post here, but this is a wise move for universities and wise of you to take advantage of it.
